Leasing FAQ’s
Q: Why would I want to take over a lease?
A: Taking over someone else's lease is a great way to lease an almost new car and get a great deal at the same time.
Q: I’m looking for a specific vehicle that I cannot find within your inventory; how can I find out if one becomes available?
A: Contact our sales team to let them know what vehicle you are looking for. We may have what you are looking for on it’s way to our lot. If we don’t have one in transit, we can always source vehicles out that suit your preference.

Q: How do I register (pre-register) to get out of my lease??

Q: Can I put a down payment or trade-in on a Lease-Take-Over?
A: As the contract has already been established with the first lessee of the vehicle, there is no down payment needed. The lease is simply transferred to the next lessee.
Q: How much Murray Chevrolet Hummer or GMAC charge for the lease transfer fee?
A: Murray Chevrolet does not charge any fees although there is a fee payable to GMAC for the amount of $450.00 + GST, Totaling $472.50.
Q: At the end of the lease, am I responsible for any damage or excess wear and tear which occurred before I took over the lease? What can I do to protect myself against being assessed for damages that I did not cause?
A: Please follow the following generally accepted practices and you will protect yourself right from the beginning:
Prior to signing any lease-assumption documents; you as the new lessee must ensure that the subject vehicle’s integrity is intact. You do this during the negotiation phase of the transaction with the original lessee. Every lease takeover must have a safety done for the best interest of both parties and is required by MPI.
Q: What process do I follow if I want to take over a lease? What legalities should I be familiar with?
A: All lease transfers are credit-approved legal transfers sanctioned by GMAC. The following is the order of operations:
- Complete a credit application and submit it to Murray Chevrolet Hummer.
- Murray Chevrolet Hummer will submit to GMAC and wait for credit decision.
- Go see the vehicle (inspect, test-drive and discuss the vehicle with the original lessee)
- Make a deal-in-principal with the original lessee (included who pays for transfer fees, inspections, security deposits, cash incentives and/or down payments).
- Upon receipt of credit approval; Murray Chevrolet Hummer and the two retail parties (original lessee and new-lessee) coordinate a delivery and signing date.
